Aislinn Browne started by scoring a point in the first 30 seconds and went on to score a total of 3 goals and 4 points during the game. Buncrana played with the wind in the first half and dominated the play. Full forward Courtney Clare was causing havoc in the full forward line and linked up with Aislinn Browne, Shauna Coyle and Aoife Mc Gill to make numerous scoring opportunities. Despite not converting all of their scoring chances, Buncrana went in at half time with a very comfortable lead.In the second half Muff began to get back into the game and the Buncrana defence were finding it difficult to contain them. Sligo on Saturday. Considering the weather in Buncrana, Easkey was bathed in glorious sunshine. The Tournament was organised in memory of the Easkey/St. Farnens club man Stephen Timoney and consisted of county champions from Connacht who have qualified to go to Limerick for the All Ireland féile at the start of July.Buncrana begin well with a comfortable win over Galway side Annaghdown. Next up was Four Roads from Roscommon, which proved to be a tight affair with Buncrana pullling away at the end to win by 7 points. Our last game in the group stage was against Strandhill from Sligo, which proved to be a one sided affair, resulting in Buncrana topping the group to set up a final game against host club Easkey, who had accounted for Mayo sides Ballina and Westport and Roscommon side Oran. The final proved to be a hum dinger of a game and was a joy to watch for the large travelling support from Buncrana, who freely gave up the day to take the team down. Easkey scored a goal almost from the throw-in, which incidentally was the first time this year that Buncrana were behind in a competitive match. It was end to end with some fine scores being taken by both teams. Buncrana were down at halftime 2-04 to 3-03. The Scarvey boys rallied from the throw-in and with a strong work ethic and team commitment prevailed in the end to win by 7 points on a scoreline 3-05 to 4-09. Team: Jason Campbell, Cathal Óg Wilson, Paul Tourish, Oisin Hegarty, John Vaughan, PJ McCarron, Matthew Wilson, Ben Doherty (Roe), Niall O’Doherty, Oisin Grant, Dylan Duffy, Aaron Craig, Gavin Kelly, Darren Connelly, Oisin Doherty (Roe), Mark Craig and Liam O’Doherty. It would be unfair to single out any players for particular credit as all during the day the team performed at their best and were a credit to themselves and the club. The boys received the cup and enjoyed the well earned dip in the Atlantic to repair there aching bones. This group won’t get carried away and will meet some of these sides in Limerick and know they will be up against it, so for now they will enjoy the win and back to the hard graft in training which they have been doing since the start of January.Lotto: The winning numbers in the lotto draw, which took place on Tuesday 4th June in O’Flaherty’s Bar on the Main Street, are as follows: 6-13-16-30There was no jackpot winner this week, however prizes of €20 go to each of the following participants:Geoffrey WassonMalacy McCann, TurkGerard O’Donnell, Millfield HeightsMartin Coyle, TullydishRónán Doherty, BallymaganClub Notes: Anyone who would like to receive a copy of the weekly club notes should email Oisín at [email protected] to be included on the mailing list.
