Taxi driver gets bail for assaulting sister, daughter

first_imgA fifty-two-year-old taxi driver was on Friday released on $100,000 bail by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly on two counts of assault when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.3Peter Thompson of D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, is accused of wounding Rita Howard with intent to disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm on April 30, 2018. In addition, he also allegedly assaulted Prisilla Thompson with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.Thompson denied the allegations that were made out against him. Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh did not object for bail to be granted to the accused and as such, he was released on $40,000 and $60,000 bail respectively.The matter was adjourned until June 15.last_img read more

CASTAIC – A speeding motorist stopped Monday in Castaic was arrested after California Highway Patrol officers found a wide range of drugs in his Jeep, a CHP officer said. Mark Moses, 37, was traveling 84 mph when he was stopped for speeding, CHP Officer Wendy Hahn said. He was en route home to San Francisco when he was stopped on the northbound Golden State Freeway just north of Hasley Canyon Road. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from Moses’ 1998 Jeep Cherokee and searched the vehicle, Hahn said. Officers seized 18.8 ounces of marijuana and 5.4 ounces of hashish, as well as 250 tablets of Viagra, which treats impotency in men; 1,000 tablets of Diazepam (a generic form of the tranquilizer Valium) and 1,000 tablets of an unknown substance, along with drug paraphernalia, Hahn said. last_img read more
