HDFC cuts home loan lending rate by 25bps after RBI rate cut

first_imgIndia’s largest mortgage lender, HDFC, has reduced its lending rate on housing loans by 25 basis points to 9.65%.The new rate, which is applicable to both existing and new customers, will be effective from Tuesday. Women borrowers are eligible for an additional 5bps cut in home loan rates, HDFC said.Following the cut, the effective home loan rate for female customers now stands at 9.60%.HDFC’s rate cut move comes in the wake of last week’s 50bps reduction in repo rate by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Soon after the central bank’s rate cut decision, many banks like the State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of India and Andhra Bank announced a reduction in their base rate. While the country’s largest lender, SBI, slashed its lending rate by 40bps, Andhra Bank reduced its base rate by 25bps. Private sectors banks like Axis Bank and ICICI Bank have reduced their benchmark lending rate by 35bps each. With the latest cut, the RBI has slashed the repo rate by 125bps to 6.75% so far this year. The central bank, however, kept the cash reserve ratio (CRR) unchanged at 4%.However, transmission of RBI rate cuts by banks to end users did not keep pace, as lenders remained sceptical about credit uptake even after large base rate cuts.Prior to RBI’s September meeting, the banks had cut the base rate by just 30 bps on an average compared to 75bps cut in the central bank’s repo rate, Business Standard reported.Bank credit growth, a major indicator of economic growth, slowed to a two-decade low in the fiscal year ending March 2015. In 2014-15, credit growth was up 9.52%, down from an increase of 13.83% in 2013-14.last_img read more

China has accused the US of taking the decision to purposely ban Huawei from US networks. Reacting sharply to Trump’s decision, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said: “China will defend its business’ rights and interests. As for China’s view on the executive order (of Trump), we can say that nobody says this as a constructive and friendly gesture.” The US has raised apprehensions on Huawei-the world’s largest provider of telecommunications equipment for a possible spying risk to Western infrastructure networks. The effect of the trade war can also be felt in the Indian markets, as the overseas investors offloaded over Rs. 1142 crore local shares on Wednesday trade. Lu said: “We have noted the US Department of Commerce decision. China always asks its business to comply with laws and regulations in export control and fulfill its international obligations. We always ask them to abide by other country’s laws regulations in their overseas business.”He further went on to add: “But we are against other countries’ unilateral sanctions based on domestic law and practices that abuse export control measures. We urge the US to stop such practice and create favorable conditions for business cooperation. China will take necessary measures to safeguard Chinese business’ legitimate rights and interests.” Close IBTimes VideoRelated VideosMore videos Play VideoPauseMute0:01/1:20Loaded: 0%0:01Progress: 0%Stream TypeLIVE-1:19?Playback Rate1xChaptersChaptersDescriptionsdescriptions off, selectedSubtitlessubtitles settings, opens subtitles settings dialogsubtitles off, selectedAudio Trackdefault, selectedFullscreenThis is a modal window.Beginning of dialog window. Meng, the daughter to Huawei owner Ren Zhengfei, has been put behind the bars for her role in misleading banks about the company’s business dealings. It won’t be just an hours-long eruption probably, but how long it will last will depend on whether the summit magma reservoir gets involved. And so we are watching that very, very closely.”More news:  Hotel charges Bollywood star $8.50 for two bananas and the Internet has thoughtsCounty, state and federal officials had been warning residents all week that they should be prepared to evacuate, as an eruption would give little warning. A nearby school was closed due to the ongoing seismic activity and several roadways cracked under the strain of the constant temblors. A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded hours before the eruption began Thursday. The Puu Oo crater floor began to collapse Monday, triggering a series of earthquakes and pushing the lava into new underground chambers.More news:  A new low for no-frills flying: easyJet assigns backless seat to passengerThe collapse caused magma to push more than 10 miles (16 kilometres) downslope toward the populated southeast coastline of the island.USGS geologist Janet Babb said the magma crossed under Highway 130, which leads to a popular volcano access point, on Tuesday night.Lava can be seen spewing from a vent in Hawaii’s Leilani Estates community on the Big Island after eruption of Kilauea volcano. https://t.co/DdDqlKmyV2The county has ordered evacuations for all of Leilani Estates, which according to the last Census has a population of 1,500. pic.twitter.com/v8O2poQGPe— ABC News (@ABC) May 4, 2018Hawaii County Civil Defence Agency closed the area to visitors on Tuesday and ordered private tour companies to stop taking people into the region. Most of Kilauea’s activity has been non-explosive, but a 1924 eruption spewed ash and 10-ton (9-metric ton) rocks into the sky, leaving one man dead.Puu Oo’s 1983 eruption resulted in lava fountains soaring over 1,500 feet (457 metres) high.
