Chelsea have won just one game against Manchester City in their last six attempts and haven’t won at the Etihad since 2016, but the Blues have perhaps never had a better chance of inflicting further misery on the Lancashire side.At a time when Manchester City have dropped six points from the last 18 available, Chelsea are the form team in the competition, having won their last five games.The last time these sides met, City triumphed over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final, but since then everything has changed.Frank Lampard has replaced Mauricio Sarri and has overseen an enormous amount of progress in so little time. His emphasis on youth has seen the likes of Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori nail down starting berths and it has proved dividends with the Blues currently sitting in third – ahead of City in fourth. Abraham and new signing Christian Pulisic have been firing on all cylinders for Lampard’s side, with the duo involved in 19 of the 27 goals that Chelsea have scored so far in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.Meanwhile, City are in a perilous place. Their defeat to Liverpool at the weekend left them languishing nine points behind the Merseyside club with City incurring a number of problems during the game, not least their frailty in defence on show for all to see. The departure of club stalwart Vincent Kompany as well as the injury to Aymeric Laporte has left Pep Guardiola’s side vulnerable at the back. Indeed, City’s centre-back partnership was John Stones and Fernandinho at the weekend – hardly comparable to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren.In fact, City as a whole have looked scared in recent weeks; Kevin de Bruyne has been a far cry away from his usual enigmatic self whilst the absence of Leroy Sane, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Laporte, Ederson, David Silva, Rodri and Benjamin Mendy has hurt them in their title defence.In other words, Chelsea have what it takes to exploit City’s weakness – a sentence which has hardly been spoken in the past few years. And, with City having scored 35 goals and Chelsea 27 in the season already, this is likely to be an exciting and entertaining fixture, with both teams to score predictions likely to pay out.But, if Lampard goes to the Etihad with no fear – as the Blues have played for the majority of the season so far – then Chelsea can inflate Guardiola’s problems, further establish themselves as a top four side and ensure that Liverpool do not race out of sight. The Kliptown ceremony was held on 13 October.Training focused on management skills for income and bank accounts, establishing a market for their specific business and understanding input costs to ensure the growth of their enterprises.A random selection of business owners from Kliptown and the neighbouring areas of Pimville and Eldorado Park took part. Tutorials were held at the Soweto Kliptown Youth centre and a local church alternately. The two criteria, according to the organisers, were that candidates have to be literate as the course involved a lot of writing, and that their businesses are at least six months old.Nedbank’s head of black business partnerships and alternative segments, Jake Oosthuizen, said his company believes in the small and micro business sector, viewing it as the lifeblood of the country’s economy.“Through the Imbizo programme,” he said, “we affirm that belief and our commitment towards building a sustainable economy by supporting the sector, which has the potential to create jobs.”Old Mutual’s support of the programme is made possible through its Masisizane Fund, formed in 2007 from unclaimed shares left over from the company’s demutualisation process.The fund operates as a non-profit company in consultation with the national treasury, and has a mandate that includes developing disadvantaged businesses with the potential of creating jobs, while also ensuring its own sustainability and growth.“We are excited about the success of this programme,” said Masisizane CEO Simphiwe Somdala. “We are hopeful that it will really assist these small businesses to increase their contribution to the country’s economy in the long run.”Retaining Kliptown’s pulseThe Kliptown graduates all run businesses in and around the township. These range from small spazas (small, makeshift shops for daily amenities, usually run from the owner’s home) and taverns to general dealers who supply the township’s catering and retail sector, tourism-orientated operations like tour guides, and those providing IT solutions to the general public and other businesses.Jabu Masuku runs a general dealership, and at the end of the programme committed himself to resisting the urge to help himself to money in the cash register, a habit he had developed to cover living costs not related to the business.“During the programme, we talked about how people from other neighbourhoods own shops in our area, capitalising on the needs of their market,” he reflected.“They take money out of the region, which is not good for its development.”Businesses in the area should benefit the people of Kliptown, he added.Ibrahim Baku, who also runs the same kind of business, praised the credibility of the programme.“We had to submit three months’ worth of data pertaining to our businesses,” he said, “and the improvement the course has made shows that it’s not just for the companies involved to look good.”Success start inwardsKarabo Songo, MD of Olive Communications, was the keynote speaker at the Kliptown event, and he encouraged the graduates to use the tool they had just earned to succeed.“I have always believed that success starts inwards and flows outwards,” he said. “We all have dreams but what is funny is that they diminish as we grow older.”Songo added that the business owners needed to own their success. “If you own a spaza, you need to be able to say it’s the best spaza in your area or region.”Investing in travelling, he said, would expose the graduates to how other businesses similar to theirs are run, which could have an indirect impact on how they run theirs.“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer,” said Songo. “Seeing what others do outside your environment opens up your mind and makes you a lateral thinker.”The graduates were also told to always have positive thoughts for themselves and their business as they are only confined by the walls they build themselves by having negative thoughts.

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against Islamic preacher Zakir Naik in cases of money laundering.On April 12, advocate Hiten Venegavkar appearing for Enforcement Directorate (ED) told the court that Mr. Naik is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and has been served with four summons dated January 1, January 24, February 2 and February 24 but has yet not appeared before the court, therefore it is ground for the agency to seek a non-bailable warrant against him.Shell companiesThe agency states that Dr. Naik had floated shell companies in India as well as abroad wherein, he had nominated directors who were not even aware of the activities of the entities. Out of the six companies he floated, Dr. Naik had appointed his confidante Aamir Gazdar as a directorof one such company. Mr. Gazdar, who was arrested last month, claims he has no knowledge of this and that Dr. Naik has been controlling all the activities. The agency further said that these companies were used to camouflage the diversion of funds received by Dr. Naik through his provocative speeches.Investigations have revealed that there were huge amount of cash transactions without leaving any trail about its origin or utilisation.The National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered an FIR against Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik, the president of Islamic Research Foundation which has been declared unlawful by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The FIR reveals that Dr. Naik and his associates indulged in unlawful activities through provocative utterances, promoting enmity between different religious groups in India. Last month, ED had also attached properties worth ₹18.37 crores under the PMLA.
New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) Utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra has discontinued sales of automatic variant of its popular sports utility vehicle Scorpio.The Mumbai-based company has already removed the Mahindra Scorpio AT variant from its official website.When contacted, a Mahindra & Mahindra spokesperson confirmed the development.”The automatic transmission that served the Scorpio well for all this time has come to the end of its cycle,” a company spokesperson told PTI.Going forward the company will take a considered call on introducing automatic transmission in Scorpio based on the markets requirements, the spokesperson added.M&M had launched the automatic variant of the new generation Scorpio in 2015 priced between Rs 13.13 lakh and Rs 14.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).The company had launched the new generation Scorpio, which has been built on an all-new platform, in September 2014.According to industry sources, the company is already working on a facelift of the SUV. The company is also said to be in the process of developing the fourth generation and launch it by 2020.The Scorpio range is currently priced between Rs 9.78 lakh and Rs 14.32 lakh.The Scorpio Getaway, on the other hand is tagged at Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 10.28 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). Steve Sharman, director, Hackthorn Innovation, looks at what media organisations need to do to protect themselves against cyber-security threats.Cyber-security is the hot topic on everyone’s minds right now – hardly surprising, given the recent high-profile hacks targeted against Sony Pictures and others – not to mention the persistent stories about government actors trying to adversely affect the outcomes of elections and referenda. In the wonderful broadcast industry of ours, we are naturally dealing with some highly sought after content on a daily basis and the risk factor suddenly gets much higher. So, what does it actually take to make sure you are secure? This was one of the topics at the recent Workflow Innovation Group (WIG) event in Cardiff and the discussions were pretty enlightening.Technology – It’s a Team EffortTechnology will always play a key part here and there are loads of solutions all claiming to make your content more secure than in the proverbial Fort Knox. However, one thing that seemed to resonate from the discussions was that no one solution fits the bill all by itself. Yes, getting a secure solution for encryption in place is extremely important and that will mean important protection for your archive. However, you still need to put the right technology in place for when that content is travelling to or from your storage, especially if that “to or from” is outside the organisation.Watermarking plays a big part here. If you are sending files to people outside of the organisation, watermarking on an individual basis means that at least if there is a leak, you know exactly where it came from.Within your facility, physically controlling the external IP addresses allowed to connect to the firewall is an obvious way to reduce potential attacks. Having a second firewall in place (ideally a different make and model!) also makes a lot of sense, further protecting the “front door” of the organisation, and obscuring the details of internal networks and software that could be useful to an attacker.Once behind the firewalls, a lot of the broadcasters present at the WIG event use closed (non-corporate connected) networks with workstations requiring individual user logins and using physically disabled USB ports. Considering what physical measures should be put into place to protect sensitive areas such as editing suites is of equal importance. Is there a window? If there is, can someone look in and see something not yet in the public domain? Does the door remain locked when staff are working within? The security consequences of it not being locked are of course pretty obvious, but especially in the current climate, there are health and safety and employee safeguarding issues that also need to be taken into account. As always, nothing is as simple as it seems!Another major technology that looks set to make workflows more secure is encryption at rest. Of course, keeping content encrypted at every stage whilst making it simple and efficient to access and review, is pretty challenging, especially when operating at scale. At the event, we discussed new technology that keeps that content encrypted whilst making it possible for current applications to access it in its encrypted state – that could be a game changer.However, whilst all of these technologies and tools are innovative and obviously make a big impact on keeping content secure, broadcasters need all of this, and more, to ensure the best security possible and minimise the risk of attack. As a media company you have to block every attack successfully – the cracker community only needs to be successful once.Ultimately, it’s about the PeopleWhilst that is all true, it is also true that you can have all the technology in the world, but if you don’t have appropriate organisation culture, with the right people with the correct training, all of that falls apart. Literally every discussion in the room came back to people and trust. Partly, that is about instilling the right company culture where people can, for example, recognise potential phishing emails and know to question and report, rather than clicking the link. It is also about ensuring the people know the consequences for the company and their own careers should they decide to take that un-released episode of Game of Thrones home and watch it a couple of days early with their mates. The broadcasters in the room were pretty unified in their view that common sense and loyalty were both important attributes of the people in their teams.At the same time of course, there should only be a limited number of people who have access to the really sensitive and high-profile content, in this case personal attitude, maturity of approach and company procedures all need to be appropriate for the situation.Are you feeling secure?The overriding themes that came out from the WIG event and discussions with broadcasters present were that being secure is not about just one thing. It is about technology, applied properly at every stage of workflows, and it is about people, and it is about having the right processes in place. Without all of those things being in place in a co-ordinated way, there will always be weak links open to exploitation. At the same time, even with all those in place, there is no room for complacency – you should continually be testing your business and looking for your own weaknesses.
